2 Antique French .950 Sterling Silver Crested Condiment Spoons by Achille Daleporte of Paris c. 1880

Each Antique Salt, Mustard or Condiment Spoon measures approximately 2 5/8inches or 67 mm in length from the top of its handle to the front rim of its bowl by just under 5/8 of an inch or 15 mm across the widest part of its upper handle from side to side and it is just over 5/8 of an inch or 17 mm across the widest part of its bowl.

Both salt, mustard or condiment spoons are completely made from .950 standard higher than sterling silver with delightful raised relief decorated shell shaped bowls and they have shaped scroll decorated handles that have pierce decorated backs, the front of each upper handle has an applied crowned raised relief and engrave decorated shield shaped panel that has the French city crest of Lille and the spoons have Not been engraved with a previous owners initials or family monogram, the bowls have both been impressed with matching French .950 standard sterling silver heads of Minerva marks along with the French silversmith or makers mark A D of Achille Daleporte from Paris whose mark is recorded as being used from 1861 all as photographed below, I estimate that this pair of salt, mustard or condiment spoons were made circa 1870 - 1890.

The condition is used and Excellent for their age.

The condiment spoons have No Dents, No Splits, No Cracks and No Holes that I can find, the definition and decoration is very crisp, the spoons are fairly straight, theFrench silver and makers marks are still legible although as the spoons are used antiques they do have some minor kinks in their handle stems along with some extremely minor surface marks and wear from use, they have the patina of age that is to be expected and a gentle clean would enhance them greatly. Personally I think that this pair of antique French crested condiment spoons can still be used today and that they would make a superb addition to any cutlery or cabinet collection, I also think that they have a delightful look about them considering that they are around 140 or so years old.
