This Mephistopheles Ale has had a checked history. There are three very similar patterns with the frosted “goat like panel” featured. Of the three this is the most “human looking”. I have information that Meysenthal made one of the “goat” patterns with a scallop top on the face shield where this one is straight . This shield has been reported, on web pages, as being made by S Reich Glass Co, Czechoslovakia operating 1813-1920s. So far I have not seen any catalogs or advertisements confirming this attribution. This does not react to short wave UV light so it is not leaded(flint) glass.The design does not have the mouth or eyes frosted like the rest of the face panel. It is 6 ½” tall and 3 1/8” in diameter.
